In the journey of life, our souls capture the events of our lives:  the essence of our hopes, dreams, sadness, joys.  Like a brightly colored rebozo(shawl), our memories embrace us as we sleep or accompany us as we move about our daily walk.  We remember and we laugh.  We remember and we cry.  Our poetry and stories can bring healing when explored through time and reflection and be a legacy for our family and friends.. 


The soul of my life journey began in the Texas ‘Valley’.  Born in a family of migrant workers, I was along for the ride or walk in my early childhood as we moved from ranchito to ranchito, working our way which eventually led to San Antonio.  The memories from those early years were a canvas where my stories and poetry were first lovingly selected and recreated.


Those early years and the love of my mother and sisters are a strong legacy and inspiration as I live, as a mother, as Grandma Lady(grandmother), as Tía, in my work as an educator, as a retreat director, in unforgettable cultural encounters and as a creative writer.


My great ‘Writing Patino’ desire?   To create an epic story of life, myth, and providence.  To publish!!  What steps am I taking to achieve it?  Enjoying smaller, definable moments and bringing forth verses and short stories…  Inspiring and being inspired by others’ stories.


My theological studies, experiences and the bonds with family and friends are a constant source of spiritual strength in my life.
